Sellwood Bridge Replacement

Sellwood Bridge TrafficWe have been supporting the county and its partner agencies since 2006 in managing the community engagement process to reach a long-term solution for this aging Willamette River crossing. Now that the NEPA process is nearly finished (a record of decision is expected from the Federal Highway Administration later this summer), the county must choose a new replacement bridge type before final design, right-of-way acquisition and construction can begin. In a city of world class bridges, choosing a new bridge type is a major decision that will have lasting impact.

JLA is managing the overall public outreach process and providing strategy and logistical support to a new Community Advisory Committee that is meeting throughout the summer to make a recommendation on the type of new bridge the county should build. Options under consideration include deck structures (girder, delta frame and arch bridges) and thru structures (extradosed and thru arch bridges).
